$20 Million for Refugees

The U.S. is currently contributing $20 million to the United Nations for reconstruction and emergency relief for the Palestinian refugees in Lebanon. Here is an article from the U.S. Department of State website.

Do you think this will have any affect on the United States' relationship with Israel?

  1. I think we need to stop blindly supporting Israel no matter what they do. This is a good first step in showing them that we equally support Palestine.

  2. I think that our continued support of Palestinian refugees must indicate to the present hard-line Israeli gov't that the US is determined to play an even-handed role in the middle east. Many Israelis are in favor of peace through fairness instead of peace by force.

  3. It is always hard to be "fair and balanced" in support of warring factions. I do think that the US has been in a constant state of deferring to Israel and it is Palestine was given a small nod of support, at the very least.

  5. I think it's good that we're showing some support toward Palestine. Sure, it'll make Israel a little mad (or really mad), but it's time for us to start making better decisions where it comes to foreign policy in the Middle East, and I think that helping out Palestine in this way is a step in the right direction.
